Nursing & Midwifery Professionals in Chattanooga
Our Certified Nurse-Midwife
In this most interesting profession of nurse-midwifery, one of the most common myths is "you only see pregnant women and deliver babies at home." Nothing could be further from the truth.
What is a certified nurse-midwife? She is a registered nurse with a master's degree in midwifery. A nurse-midwife plays a special and unique role in women's health care. Her caring and compassionate qualities, as well as the extended time given for the office visit and the ease of scheduling appointments, are well appreciated by her patients. She provides preconception and prenatal care, supporting women during labor and delivery in their chosen method of childbirth.
A midwife is committed to her patient's particular needs, without sacrificing prudent medical interventions. In addition to obstetric care, she provides full-scope gynecological care through annual exams, contraception, teen health exams and counseling, conventional and alternative therapies for perimenopause and menopause, testing and treatment for osteoporosis, and many other treatments and care related to women's health. Our midwife offers childbirth classes at the office, as well as nonstress testing and 3-D/4-D ultrasound. She delivers patients at Erlanger Hospital, Erlanger East and Parkridge East Hospital.
